Climate Crisis Tipping Point?
Where do we stand really?
While reading a climate crisis story in The Guardian about Europe’s need to begin adaptation for a +3C world, I came across this 2 year old wake up call from the world’s top climate scientists: We asked 380 top climate scientists what they felt about the future....
It is absolutely worth a read and here are some of the key quotes from the world’s best climate scientists:
Cerezo-Mota expects the world to heat by a catastrophic 3C this century, soaring past the internationally agreed 1.5C target and delivering enormous suffering to billions of people. This is her optimistic view, she says.
And, that is just the start:
“I expect a semi-dystopian future with substantial pain and suffering for the people of the global south,” said a South African scientist who chose not to be named. “The world’s response to date is reprehensible – we live in an age of fools.”’
It continues:
“It is the biggest threat humanity has faced, with potential to wreck our social fabric & way of life. It has the potential to kill millions, if not billions, through starvation, war over resources, displacement,” said Renwick, Victoria University. “None of us will be unaffected by the devastation.”
Don’t take my word, read the entire story for yourself..
